Heorhii left Donetsk back in 2014 and settled in Kyiv in 2016. There, he met his future wife, Olha, and the two later got married. For all these years, the couple had been living in rented apartments. A year and a half ago, their daughter, Valeriia, was born. The family had planned to take advantage of the eOselya housing program but decided to wait until Olha returned to work from maternity leave. Heorhii works as a tender specialist at a private company specializing in laboratory equipment.

“That’s exactly how it would have gone if not for Government Resolution No. 998, which came into force on September 10. It gave us, as internally displaced persons, additional opportunities to achieve one of our life’s main goals — purchasing our own home. We submitted our application through Diia and were approved,”
— share Heorhii and Olha.

The family purchased an apartment at the construction stage in the Kyiv suburb of Chaiky, in the Oxford Residential Complex.

The loan was issued by SKY Bank, which became the first among partner banks to sign an agreement with the Pension Fund of Ukraine and implement the new compensation mechanism.

“We are proud to be the first bank to implement this new compensation system. It’s both a responsibility and an incentive to keep working so that even more families can obtain their own homes through the program,”
— commented Volodymyr Chornenkyi, Member of the Management Board at JSC SKY Bank.

Under the new terms, the state covered 70% of the down payment (including up to 40,000 UAH in administrative costs). In addition, for one year, the government will reimburse 70% of the family’s monthly mortgage payments.

“Without state support, we wouldn’t have been able to save for the down payment. Now, thanks to the 70% reimbursement of our monthly payments, we can start renovating and finally move from a rented apartment into our own home,”
— says Heorhii.

According to him, the family did not experience any difficulties obtaining the loan or the compensation.

“On the contrary — everything went quickly and smoothly: we submitted the documents, and then Diia and SKY Bank employees handled most of the process. It really makes life easier for those who are busy with work and don’t have time to run around government offices,”
— the couple notes.

“Over the past three years since its launch, the eOselya program has become a real instrument of support for Ukrainians. Recently, the 20,000th mortgage was issued under the program. Now, through collaboration with ministries, banks, and the Pension Fund of Ukraine, we’ve been able to offer improved housing conditions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and residents of frontline regions. The story of Heorhii and Olha will serve as an example for thousands of other families — the state supports you, and owning your own home is absolutely within reach,”
— said Yevhen Metsher, Chairman of the Board of PJSC Ukrfinzhytlo.

“For me, buying an apartment is a chance to finally feel at home again,”
— concludes Heorhii.
